Earlier this year I had the pleasure of being a part of a brilliant styled shoot, put together by Sophie at Cotswold Caboodle. I had so much fun on the day and enjoyed every minute of editing these. Here is the write up for Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog, written by Sophie. Thank you so much to all of the suppliers involved! It really was a fantastic day! For the full suppliers list please keep scrolling.

“The venue I chose for the photoshoot was a beautiful new wedding barn in Chipping Campden.  Lapstone Barn is a stunning exclusive use barn wedding venue nestled in the rolling Cotswold hills just minutes from the beautiful town of Chipping Campden. The stunning views surrounding the property can be enjoyed from the lawns and patios or relax in the sunshine in the lavender filled English Courtyard.  As a new venue my aim was to tell the story of a real wedding and recreate that feeling in the shots. I felt this was important in helping Brides and Grooms visualise their own weddings by taking ideas from the details. When I initially met with Katie (the photographer) we both decided whimsical weddings fitted in seamlessly with what we are looking to achieve; classic romantic and whimsical! I chose Katie as the photographer because I loved the way she merges romance with creativity whilst keeping it fun and relaxed. There is a lovely natural feel to all her pictures. Katie also brought along assistant Laura Martha who was a great addition to the day and helped immensely with directing some of the shot.”

“We started our shoot in the impressive Hayloft Dressing room for our ‘Getting Ready’ shots with talented hair styling Gigi from Blushes hair who created a sophisticated up do. It was a fantastic opportunity to have Blushes involved in our day, Hands down the best hair salon in Cheltenham.Next up was getting the dresses on. Every girls magical moment! We had two dresses for our two female models for the day. We were spoilt for choice of what dresses to pick by Butterfly Boutique. After much deliberation we found the two that we wanted! The first dress was classic and timeless. The second dress was very much boho with a twist of glamour. The second dress was quite unique with its stunning over skirt train. We complemented the second dress with an off the shoulder merino wool shawl from Only Wul. The shawl; not only did it keep our bride cosy and warm but the beautiful mink colour went perfectly with the brides flower crown.”

“The two bouquets were designed to compliment both of the dresses as well as the venue surroundings. The first bouquet consisted of a selection of roses and ranunculus with trailing jasmine trails complimented with a silk habotai ribbon. The second was a wild foliage bouquet. This was kept simple allowing the bright ad blousy flower crown to take centre stage. In contrast to the flower crown the first model had a bespoke head dress hand crafted by the talented Kate Latimer Millinery. She provided us with two head pieces made to the highest of qualities. Kate really is the perfectionist. These head pieces were traditional yet so contemporary.”

“The Cake; Made and designed by wedding cake maker Laura Urschel. A semi-naked design, with artist palette markings and  gold leaf. It was really important for the design of the cake to compliment the Classic/Boho Style of the shoot as well being a show stopping centre piece. The pop of bright colours and macaroon worked really well to off set the soft pinks and greys. Laura let the trailing jasmine foliage create shape and ‘grow’ around the cake. This gave a real sense of romance and tied in perfectly with the colour scheme.”

“For the Ceremony, I wanted to continue the romantic whimsical theme, running soft pinks throughout, with the occasional flickering candle to set the mood. The rustic style barn with its capacious ceiling was deserving of a large floral chandelier, I added in some glass baubles filled with rose heads to help catch the natural light. It provided a gorgeous focal point for the room and helped to create that magical feel.”

“For the wedding breakfast we moved the garland from the ceremony table to the top table and added in a few detailed pieces such as the Tillandsia, succulents, vintage gold candlesticks and votives. These tied in perfectly with the beautiful china, glass ware and cutlery by Vintage Gold China. I came across Amanda from Vintage Gold China whilst working at a wedding together and fell in love with her elegant vintage tableware. Nicole from One Last Thing provided the stationery. I asked her for classic stationery with accents of eucalyptus to match the theme, I received it within a couple of days and she fulfilled the brief perfectly!”

“The second part of the shoot was taken outside. We focused on the beautiful details worn by the Bride and Groom. The Groom wore a stylish three piece suit with a bow tie from Country Master. Girls, point your husbands to be in the direction of the new Country Master shop in Broadway. They won’t regret it. An opportunity to sip on whiskey and lounge on the gentleman chairs all whilst getting suited and booted. We kept the outdoor shots fun and informal with the use of vintage ladders scattered in flowers and a delightful old bicycle for props, which really helped to give that romantic boho feel. These props were provided by Lynne at Rustic Rentals who was a great help on the day. She really does have an Aladdin’s cave full of vintage props. What ever you need she has! The rustic props were used throughout the entire day and left no corner bare.Last but certainly not least was the make-up. Credit to Lexi Beauty for ensuring that the make-up was touched up to perfection throughout the entire day. She provided exactly what we were looking for and more! The first look was a sophisticated Audrey Hepburn style and the second was a natural warm glowy skin with glossy eyes.”
